Chassis

A chassis or the body of the Robot is the main and the most important part of the Robot. It is the thing which carry the whole mechanism, parts and almost everything that a Robot contains and that is the reason why it has to be designed with a good care.

A chassis must qualify the following requirements:

1. It has to be rigid enough to carry all the weight and mechanism.

2. It must be designed in such a way that it does not loss its control while completing its task.

3. It must contain less joints, so that its easy to assemble and de-assemble.

4. Its Center of Gravity(CG) must lie at the center of the body so that it does not topple while in motion through uneven planes.

5. Dimensions of the chassis/body must be decided with care so that it will fit on the given requirements.

6. The material of the chassis must be easily available, and must not be costly enough because there are lots of important things which needs your money.

Chassis/Body Materials:

The choice of the material of the body of Robot is also a very important aspect of Robot making. Most of the initial Robots are built with the use of wood, plastic or GI sheet, but for the combat robot or war robot we must have to use Iron sheets Iron angles, because these bots require strength and rigidity.
For autonomous bots we prefer you to use plastic or light material but for race bots we prefer wood or hard plastic.
Also while choosing the material for your bots, take care about its weight, remember the lighter bots require less energy while heavier require more energy for its motion.
